Math with Someone

We have added Math With Someone as a choice for Daily 5 Math. The kids are working on recognizing numbers 1-10 with their partner. One person pulls out a card and reads the number to their partner. Then the other person finds that number to match the card. I caught these partners recognizing lots of numbers!

Writers Workshop

We started our writers workshop today and did great! We discussed how authors are writers and we are writers too! We read "The Pigeon Wants a Puppy" today to show that Mo Willems is a writer.

We then made a list of possible writing topics. After brainstorming ideas, I modeled how to start by drawing a picture. After drawing a picture we then use crayons to color the picture and a pencil to write what we drew. When writing we used the first letter of what it is that we drew a picture of. For an example I drew a flower and wrote "f" by the flower. They did great on day 1 of writing!!
