First Week of School

We made it! The first week of school is over and we now know all the rules and expectations to move on and have a great and successful year! Take a look at what we did this week!

New Faces

We have 21 kiddos in our class this year. Here are our first day of school pictures!

Expectations

We learned lots of expectations including how to sit correctly on the different seating around the room. We made a chart with pictures explaining the expectations of how to sit the right way. We also learned the 4 class rules that we will be following that goes with a song we sing every morning!

Math Tub Exploration

There are lots of math tools we use throughout the year so at the beginning of the year we take time to explore those different tools. They include, but are not limited to, counting bears, color links, cube blocks, snap cubes, and shape blocks. Kiddos make patterns, build things, or sort. Lots of exploration happened this week!

Fine Motor Boot Camp

Fine motor boot Camp give the kiddos a chance to subtly work their hand muscles and work on their fine motor skills. This is great preparation for when we begin writing and allows them to hold a pencil correctly and write throughout the year. This week kiddos used hole punchers to punch holes in paper. They used playdoh and pushed them through shape syringes. Kiddos also worked pony beads out of thera putty as well as putting beads on pipecleaners. Getting stronger every day!

Reading

We learned what Read to Self is and that there are 3 ways to read. One of those ways is to read the pictures. We practiced looking at the pictures in our books while building stamina at Read to Self this week.

Name Game

This week we started Name Game. Each day we will celebrate a new kiddo and spell, chant, write and count the letters in their name. Then each one of us draw a picture of that friend.
