First Week of School

It was a great first week of school meeting so many new friends and learning so many procedures! We will continue to learn and practice procedures throughout the next few weeks so that the rest of the year will run smoothly and we can have loads of fun. Be sure to check the blog each week to find out what we are learning!

Meet the kiddos that will be in Room 28 this year! The first day of school pictures are always a favorite!

Meeting friends and learning to play with one another is an important skill that we learn in kindergarten. We spent a lot of time playing and exploring this week.

In math this week we spent time exploring with math tools. Math tools include square tiles, square cubes, links, counting bears, etc. We will use these tools throughout the year and are given time at the beginning of the year to explore and get use to using them the proper way.

Just a reminder that Thursday is Parent Information Night! This will be an important night as Mrs. Davis will be sharing information that you will need for the entire year. She will be sharing information regarding classroom management, the curriculum, contact information, and ways that you can be actively involved in your child's learning this year. The event is Thursday beginning at 5:30. There will be 3 sessions:
Session 1: 5:30-5:55
Session 2: 6:00-6:25
Session 3: 6:30-6:55
There are 3 sessions for families with multiple children. If you only have one child then you only need to attend one session, and you can choose the session that is most convenient for you.

Please be sure to always check the calendar for upcoming events. Here are a few notes from Mrs. Davis:
-There were safety drills on Friday (tornado and fire drill). They did great learning where to go in case of an emergency!
-If your child has not brought in a rest towel/blanket, please do so this week. It needs to be in a reusable bag with their name on it.
-A reminder that the solar eclipse will be Monday. There will be indoor recess and a live stream from NASA in the gym. The solar eclipse will still be occurring at dismissal so please talk with your child about the precautions when exiting the building and getting into the car or onto the bus.
